Designing Weavers is a nationally recognized juried fiber guild known for the diverse range of work produced by its members and is based in Los Angeles, California. The group believes in motivating and encouraging excellence.

The goals of Designing Weavers are to promote all fiber arts, to develop and share ideas, and to provide inspiration for all.

Designing Weavers began in the early 1970s with a small group of women coming together to share their knowledge of weaving. Among the founding members were Marie Walling, Dottie Wier and Estelle Carlson. As word traveled of this exciting group its membership grew until it reached 35 members. The people involved were powerful artists and quite a few became well known in the fiber world.
