Jane
has an eclectic interest in beads, fiber, drawing and painting, which has
spanned over thirty years, as well as a more recent interest in photography.
She is currently working on three series of pieces, one incorporating beads and
fiber, another using needle felting as a pictorial art form, and the last involving
studies combining off-loom beadweaving stitches. Her pieces are often inspired
from the beauty of nature, combining pictorial images with abstract forms.
Inspired at an early age by her Aunt Rita, a textile artist, Jane has always
been involved with textiles and art. With a BFA in Drawing and Painting from
California State University at Long Beach and an interest in all creative endeavors,
Jane has pursued an Arts & Crafts related path. She built a career in instructional
craft books, publishing over a dozen books on beadwork, knitting and crocheting.
She has been a guest designer on the DIY network and PBS, and has had her designs
in magazines as well as designing knitwear for yarn companies, and beadwork for
galleries. Jane teaches knitting and felting classes at Anacapa Fine Yarns in
Ventura, California (www.anacapafineyarns.com) and occasionally travels to other
teaching venues. And she is, of course,
always working on her next book.
