Designing
Weavers began in the early 1970s with a small group of women coming
together to share their knowledge of weaving. Among the founding members
were Marie
Walling, Dottie Wier and Estelle Carlson. As word traveled of this
exciting group its membership grew until it reached 35 members. The
people involved were powerful artists and quite a few became well known
in the fiber world. The group continues to be a strong force in the
art and design community and contains several nationally known fiber
teachers, artists and designers.
Fiber
artists use more than thread and yarn to create. Paper, monofilament, mixed
media, sculpture and many more materials and techniques are used. Go to
the artists page to see the
broad range of work these artists create.
